Why Barcelona fans should be excited with the signing of Phil Coutinho

As the Blaugranes welcomed their record signing player in the history of their club, Philippe Coutinho couldn’t have been a better deal for Barcelona to wrap up after a 6-month long saga of speculations connecting the club with the player. The 25 year old Brazilian has a lot to contribute to Catalan side who were in desperate need for someone to do the creative work in the middle of the pitch other than Messi and Iniesta who are now at their 30s.

The acceleration and speed plus the skillful feet of the Ex-Liverpool attacking midfielder will help the Catalan giants to penetrate through the oppositions defence easily and effectively. Coutinho could be their perfect replacement for Iniesta as his influential days at the club are coming to an end . Coutinho is a player who can create goal scoring opportunities while adding a different pace to the game with his speedy and tricky feet.

Having joined in 2012 for Liverpool, Coutinho made 152 Premier League appearances and scored 41 goals including many spectacular ones in and outside the box. The Brazilian made way into the hearts of the Liverpool fans so quickly and so deeply because of the consistency in the efforts that he puts in every that he plays.

Having bought in Paulinho, Semedo and Dembelé at the start of this season , Barcelona are off to a flying start to the season with 16 points clear of their rivals Real Madrid so early in the season. Although Coutinho, who has already appeared for Liverpool in the Champions League and scored 5 times this season can’t perform for the Catalans , he has the rest of this season to understand and adapt to the style of playing at his new club and to develop an understanding with his new teammates and to make his appearance crucial for the club in the coming seasons.

Barcelona have spent the money from the Neymar deal and more this season and are deciding upon the starting players who are going be sold this season. The £142m spent on the Brazilian could bring a lot more triumphs to the club as Coutinho is a player who is known for his persistent efforts and hard work. Doing what he did at Liverpool in his new club would evidently prove that he is worth the money that the Catalan side spent to get him into their squad.
